ABOUT
Barry Kooser is an illustrator, concept artist, fine artist and a college Professor known for his versatility across multiple disciplines. Born and raised in Colorado, Kooser’s artistic journey began at a young age, inspired by various family members, instructors, friends and landscape around him. After studying at the Kansas City Art Institute, he embarked on a career dedicated to the arts in its many forms.
Kooser left Disney in 2003 and returned to Colorado with his wife, Brenda, and started Kooser Studios. He has sold traditional landscape paintings and prints in numerous fine art galleries throughout the western U.S.
Barry also started teaching at the college level in 2009, fueling a continued passion for drawing and painting fundamentals in digital art, concept art, traditional landscape painting as well as continuing to advance his Sci-Fi work.
With an animation internship that turned into a career with Walt Disney Feature Animation, his career took flight as a Background Painter. Barry was fortunate to work on several classic animated films: The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Princess and the Frog, and Background Supervisor on Brother Bear.
